Because the additional reflector was positioned at the base of the main reflector, they were nicknamed 'kangaroo' headlights. These were in fact 'bi-iodes' headlights, with two separate iodine bulbs, each with its own housing. The second reflector acted as a long-range reflector. This rather clever system enabled the vehicle to be fitted with powerful headlamps, without detracting from the car's appearance. However, it was soon abandoned, probably because more and more manufacturers were equipping their vehicles with integrated long-range lenses.
