Very rare part! It is normally fitted on any convertible model (probably not on sedans). This knee guard has the particularity to be larger than the European one, in order to meet the US standards which were stricter than in Europe at that time. This one also has the even rarer particularity of including the holes for the electric windows as well as the ashtray (placed lower in order to accommodate the ventilation grills for the models equipped with air conditioning). FYI: the ashtray is simply the same as the one on the very first Golf 1 (first dashboard); and the power window buttons are the same as on the VW Corrado. Interesting for someone who wants to work on a 'full options' project for his Golf ;).

See in its original language (French) : Pièce très rare! Se monte normalement sur tout modèle cabriolet (probablement pas sur berlines). Ce protège-genoux a la particularité d'être plus volumineux que celui des versions européennes, afin de répondre aux normes US plus strictes qu'en Europe à l'époque. Celui-ci à également la particularité encore plus rare d'inclure les trous pour les vitres électriques ainsi que le cendrier (disposé plus bas afin d'accueillir les grilles de ventilations pour les modèles équipées de la climatisation).
