This on-board manual, dating from just before the switch to 'Series 2', does not yet list the 6-cylinder 230 (or 230.6) versions, equipped with the M180, and yet produced simultaneously. Interestingly, Mercedes offered three different 6-cylinder engines on the W114 at the same time! Little-known fact: from 1971 onwards, the 250s were in fact equipped with a 2.8 engine, the same as that fitted to the Pagode 280 SL... It's not hard to get confused...
