For the 1984 model year, Renault restyled the R18. The operation looks more like a major marketing operation, with the intention of boosting sales of the model, more than 5 years after its launch. In fact, it would have been more logical to evoke the 'Type 2' range from the 1983 model year, a rather pivotal year corresponding to the launch of the R18 Turbo Diesel; the increase in power of the Turbo petrol versions (now available as a station wagon); the 'American' special series, and the launch of the 4x4 models. This is one of the very last brochures devoted to the station wagon, and it's very comprehensive, with a particular focus on the Turbo petrol station wagon version, of which very few are produced. A little R18 geek comment: Renault's superb Philips mini-stereo system was never offered as an option on the Turbo station wagons, which were limited to two front speakers. A real oddity!

D'ailleurs, il aurait été quelque part plus logique d'évoquer la gamme 'Type 2' dès le millésime 1983, année assez charnière correspondant au lancement de la R18 Turbo Diesel; à l'augmentation de puissance des versions Turbo essence (disponible désormais en break); aux séries spéciales 'American', ou encore à la sortie des modèles 4x4. Il s'agit ici d'une des toutes dernières brochures consacrée au break, très complète, et mettant tout particulièrement en lumière la version Turbo break essence, produite à très très peu d'exemplaires. Petite remarque de 'geek' de la R18: la superbe mini-chaîne stéréo Philips de Renault n'a jamais été proposée en option sur les break Turbo, qui se limitaient seulement à deux hauts-parleurs à l'avant. Une vraie bizarrerie!
